The Blue Whale... As you have heard, is a colossal animal or the giant of giants. And even as great, as monstrous, and as powerful as the dinosaurs were, they are no match for this master of beasts. And amazingly, this great animal knows it's power and has nothing to prove to any person or beast, because it is gentle as a dove, and as peaceful as the greatest enlightened being. And people seem to think that the blue whale is a fish, and they could not be any more wrong, because it is a mammal. It needs to breathe air just like you and I, and when it is under water you may think that it is forever, but it is for only 30 minutes or so, and then the blue whale has to come up for air.
It has been said that a grown man can stand up straight with the arm extended inside the mouth of a blue whale, and barely touch the roof of it's mouth. For that is how big this wonderful animal is, and another thing, when you think of a dinosaur and how big it's size is, you would think that for example a Brontosaurus is bigger than a whale, but not true. The blue whale is about twice the length of that dinosaur, as well weigh twice as much. Because the brontosaurus weighed about 50 tons and had a length of about 90 feet, and the blue whale about 120 tons and about 120 feet in length.
Also you would automatically assume that as monstrous as the blue whale is, that it would eat food as big as cows and horses, but you would be mistaken because this gentle animal only eats little shrimp and fishes, although very many of them. And the way it would do this, is by opening it's mouth and swim, and the shrimps and fishes would swim inside and then get caught in the tiny hairs that are at the root of it's mouth. And then the whale would close it's jaw and licks the roof of it's mouth, and there is the meal. And that is probably a couple of hundred thousands, and that tongue is extremely long and huge as well weigh a ton.
And I bet you've heard about the song of the blue whale, and what a lovely melody it is. Also it is rumored that 2 whales can communicate with each other 2 oceans apart, and this is not far fetched, since we now have weapons that can travel through the sound wave, where the special noise can travel from once country's ocean, all the way to another's territorial water and cause earthquakes and Tsunamis.
So the blue whale is your friend, the blue whale is patient, and the blue whale gives us so much to admire, to appreciate, to fall in love with, and it even gives us it's body and it's oil.
